I was going to say it was dirty, but not that bad, and then you zoomed in. My apartment has a car vac, which is a nice amenity, though it could use a longer hose.
Also I don’t think it is wrong to look into cars (unless someone is clearly living in it). I don’t think there’s an expectation of privacy for a window filled space parked in public.

It’s filthy, but at least it seems a goober probably
gets treated well by its owner.

Embarrassing admission here.
My girl Charlie shed non-stop. The back seat of my Civic Si was coated with white hair...
...including when I traded it in for my Jeep. I discovered the Jeep late Sunday evening, raced there Monday morning to buy it, and didn’t have a chance to clean out my car. I was quite apologetic to the dealership, although I’m sure they didn’t care.

I really really hope that's dirt caked onto everything.

Okay but did you leave interior surfaces caked in BROWN?
![]() 08/17/2020 at 10:01 |

When at worked at a dealership we took a C avalier in on trade that looked like that.
It went straight to the auction block.

The muddy shifter is somehow the most cringy part. Is that just actually big globs of mud on it? And why are their keys left inside so visibly? I suppose no one would want to steal that.
![]() 08/17/2020 at 10:04 |

Well, no. I try to balance my laziness with a little preemptive cleanliness.

Who would want to

They keys are right there...it’s like the car is begging you to put it in neutral and push it into a lake.
Honestly, this is about how I mentally picture all vehicles where pets travel inside regularly. That’s not reality, it’s just how germophobes and neat freaks see the world.

It's either that or a very flexible dog.

Everybody leaves their key in the car here . It’s an island. If you steal a car what are you gonna do with it?
![]() 08/17/2020 at 10:10 |

The engine and transmission may be worth something.
But if a person takes this kind of care of the interior...

It's an island. If you steal a car they'll catch you the moment you try to take it to the mainland.

a muddy dog is a happy dog? not excusing the fact that you can clean up after

I think the owner is probably also muddy

Slap a “ Ted Kennedy for Senate” sticker on the back and do what you have to do.

![]() 08/17/2020 at 10:22 |

Ah, nice. But the owner would have to report it stolen...
![]() 08/17/2020 at 10:26 |

No need....unless it helps cover up the vandalism. YMMV based on local police priorities.

I suppose you are right, but ships exist. Not that the one car getting ferried off the island wouldn't get noticed. Huh, never thought about that
![]() 08/17/2020 at 10:41 |

Besides the ferry terminals there’s only one berth here that could accommodate loading a vehicle and that berth is privately owned. You’d basically have to set up a car hauling operation from scratch in order to steal them.

So I assume car theft is pretty rare. That must be nice.
Edit: wait, how do the cars get there to begin with?

Doggo fluff and a clawed up center consoles ... it’s what makes a Subaru a Subaru.
We have a short haired white dog with brown spots and it is impossible to remove all of those little hairs from the carpet of my wife’s Crosstrek. I make this joke often to her. Those center console tops are not durable at all. Hers is nowhere near this shape though. I’d have to burn it if it were.

That leash is just for show.
The owner is a werewolf. That’s the only reasonable explanation for that amount of fur & filth.

Nobody really locks their houses either. It's an incredibly safe place.

I’ve worked at a dealership over 6 years now, some of the trade- ins we get are absolutely disgusting.
One of the most memorable was a Sentra where the lady commuted around Northern VA and tossed pistachio shells and orange peels in the car literally everywhere.
![]() 08/17/2020 at 11:28 |
|
I suppose in a small community isolated from the riff Raff wandering around the mainland, you would get caught pretty quickly.
![]() 08/17/2020 at 11:48 |
|
There are car ferries that bring cars back and forth. If a car is reported stolen they can just screen every car that tries to get on.
Can’t keep a stolen car here either. It’ll get seen. Even if you part it out there’ll still be an identifiable husk that you can’t discretely dispose of.
![]() 08/17/2020 at 12:02 |

Some places are much more conducive to concealing stolen cars. A small island is not one of those places. If you saw a car left with the keys inside here in Atlanta, a place chosen for development specifically for being nearly devoid of any natural boundaries, the perpetrator could have driven in literally any direction, so actually finding it would be pretty hard.

There was a woman I became friends with at the dog park. She had a young golden retriever that my dog was friends with. She drove a Civic sedan that was leased. One day, I went over to leave a dozen tennis balls in her car, because the dog was obsessed with them and went through them quickly. The interior was so much worse than the above. I can’t imagine you can return a leased car like this, can you???
Her husband drove a relatively new Lexus which was paid for by the city, he was the tax assess or, and his interior was not much better. The color of the leather was almost non-existe nt from the dog’s claws. It’s like they have no clue that seat covers exist.

This is why I have a truck with a topper. We go to the river almost daily. They bring back gallons of water and pounds of sand on their fur.
